Global Forum on Remittances, Investment and Development (GFRID)

Global Forum on Remittances, Investment and Development
The Global Forum on Remittances, Investment and Development (GFRID) is a UN-recognized, informal process that brings together stakeholders working on remittances and migration for development.
Since 2007, GFRID has held biannual summits on the International Day of Family Remittances (IDFR) with participants from the public sector, private sector, UN organizations and civil society representatives from different regions. Here, partners share learnings on how to maximize the impact of remittances, reduce transfer costs, and enhance coordination.
GFRID is a key instrument to raise awareness of and promote migration and remittances for sustainable development. It is also an important tool to implement the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
The upcoming Summit will take place at the UN Office at Nairobi (Kenya) on 14-16 June, in partnership with UN OSAA and the World Bank.
