The Strengthening Agricultural Resilience through Learning and Innovation (STARLIT) project in Rwanda and Kenya used two digital tools to accomplish its goals of training smallholder farmers in good agricultural practices and of strengthening the capacity of saving and credit cooperative organizations (SACCO).

The Annual Progress Report 2022 provides an overview of the Facility portfolio and highlights. Sixteen projects cover diverse regions and themes, including value chain development, climate-smart agriculture, rural financing, crisis response, gender equality, and more.

Established in 2018, the China-IFAD South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) Facility is a partnership between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and IFAD aiming to leverage knowledge, innovation, technology and resources from the Global South to tackle poverty and sustain food systems transformation.

The STARLIT (Strengthening Agricultural Resilience through Learning and Innovation) project is an IFAD-China SSTC Facility funded initiative which aims to strengthen the resilience of farmers in the maize value chain in Kenya and Rwanda.

This fourth progress report highlights the achievements of the Facility in 2021.

Funding through the China-IFAD SSTC Facility under the third call for proposals were designated towards projects that support the generation and exchange of innovative solutions, approaches and methodologies that can be of value in the post-COVID-19 recovery period.

The China-IFAD South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) Facility was established on 31 March 2018 with the signing of the Supplementary Funds Agreement between IFAD and the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China.

Established in February 2018 and entirely devoted to smallholder agriculture and rural development, the China-IFAD SSTC Facility is taking concrete actions to alleviate rural poverty, enhance rural productivity, advance rural transformation and promote investments among developing countries.

The China-IFAD South-South and Triangular Cooperation Facility was established in February 2018 and is the first Facility in IFAD dedicated to SSTC.
